The FANSER Project in Zambia

The project of the Global Programme aims at food and nutrition insecure people in Zambia’s Katete and Petauke districts. In particular women of childbearing age and young children are targeted to get access to sufficient and nutritious food at all times, especially in times of food shortages.

The project looks at establishing district food and nutrition committees. At local level direct improvement of the hygiene and the food/nutrition situation of women and young children is a focus. Successful approaches should become a permanent feature in the country, for which positive experiences are conveyed to governmental and non-governmental institutions. Much emphasis is placed on cooperating with partners like the SUN initiative.
