SNRD Africa Conference

Towards Implementing the Agenda 2030 – The Role of Food and Nutrition Security, Youth Employment and Climate Action in African Rural Development

SNRD Africa and the host programme GIZ-CAADP invite to the conference on 2–6 May 2017 in Pretoria, South Africa

The objectives of the conference are:

  • Understand current dynamics and opportunities of food security, youth employment and climate action and their role in implementing the Agenda 2030 in rural areas in Africa

  • Learn from experience with food security, youth employment and climate action across African countries and SNRD member programmes

  • Better enshrine the topics of the special initiative “One World – No Hunger” by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in the objectives and structure of SNRD Africa
  • Reflect on how could SNRD Africa effectively contribute to a development-oriented imple-mentation of the Agenda 2030

The conference will comprise plenary sessions, concurrent mini-workshops on specific subtopics of the Agenda 2030 and the related roles of food security, youth employment and climate action, open space sessions and marketplace. One-day field trips are scheduled for Saturday 6 May as part of the post-conference programme. Therefore, different destinations will be offered and communicated beforehand to participants. Working language of the conference will be English, simultaneous interpretation (English-French, French-English) provided.
