Meet the Women Leading Change
- Matilde Calima: A young entrepreneur from Beira who has built a thriving business selling perfumes and soaps. Despite facing discrimination as a lesbian woman, she fights for tolerance and organizes women’s groups to discuss critical issues like domestic violence and unplanned pregnancies.
- Joana Barbosa: After leaving an abusive marriage, Joana started her own agriculture and organic cosmetics business. She now provides for her son as a single mother and serves as a role model for other women in her community, demonstrating the power of financial independence.
The stories highlight how financial independence and entrepreneurship can transform lives and challenge deep-rooted cultural expectations. By stepping into the business world, these women are achieving personal success and contributing to the broader development of Mozambique.
