Youth organisations show promise in addressing the needs and interests of youths and women and offer them various opportunities and support efforts regarding business as well as advocacy. However, to keep a youth organisation running, develop it further and make it grow based on the interest and needs of existing and new members is a tough task. It requires constant efforts by management and support by members.

The guide is the result of a South-South exchange between technical advisors and representatives of youth organisations from Burkina Faso, Malawi, Mozambique and Kenya. It highlights their first-hand experiences and best practices on topics like leadership transition, recruitment of new members, the inclusion of women as well as strategies for the distribution of information among members.

The knowledge product is vital for established youth organisations who want to create a more sustainable and inclusive membership base. On the other hand, it’s useful for the various support structures and donors to create a favourable environment for youth organisations to further develop and provide employment opportunities for other youths and women.
