🌳 Agroecological Business Model: Compost Production as a Means of Protecting Agricultural Soils
How do you turn waste into income while protecting agricultural soils? Compost production as an ecological alternative to chemical fertilizers can grow into an agroecological business.
Sansan Etienne Palé, a 30-year-old farmer from southwest Burkina Faso, shows how he produces a bokashi-type compost that works with fermentation.
The organic fertilizer enables him to achieve a more resilient and ecological agricultural production and turns waste into a new source of income. Sansan even supplies other farmers in his area with ecological alternatives to imported chemical fertilizers.
For the future, he hopes to expand his production capacities: “The first use is in my own production. The surplus will now be sold to other producers.”
